Formula Ford Festival
The Formula Ford Festival takes place every year at Brands Hatch. Although the festival first took place at Snetterton, Norlfork in 1972, moving to the Kent circuit for the 1975 season where it has run annually ever since. Today the Formula Ford Festival is organised and run by the BRSCC.
For many fans and drivers alike the festival is the highlight of the Formula Ford season. In recent years cars from all era's of Formula Ford racing have been represented in a series of 'knock out' heats with the eventual winner crowned on the Sunday Final.
Between 1993 and 2005 the Zetec engined cars were the main Festival category, where many future Grand Prix, Indy Car and Le Mans drivers competed whilst passing through the junior ranks
In 2008, Formula Ford Zetec's returned to the festival, establishing a stand alone final again in 2009. That race was won by Neil Tofts, with Sebastian Nummi second and John Whitbourn third.
The 2010 Zetec final was won by Julian Hoskins, with Lucy Wardrop second and Paul Britten third.
In 2011 the Zetec contingent continued to grow with 15 cars entering the Festival. The final saw Neil Tofts come out on top with Rick Morris second and Ashley Dibden third.
Tweleve cars lined up to contest the 2012 Formula Ford Festival in what turned out to be the closest most successful Zetec race since its reappearence in 2008. Victory went to Xavier Michel thought to be the first win for a Frenchman in the festivals history. Paul Sieljes finished second with John Whitbourn a close third.
